2007 PRE-COLLEGE

People close to us always say that we have always been together, and while at times it feels that way, it's not true.

We met in June 2007 while attending Pre-College at Hampton University. He was a white tee, Yankee fitted, Tims in the summer wearer from NYC and she was a wild, carefree, confident, long hair swinging, dancing girl from NYC, MD, ATL, Panama....As the story goes, neither of us liked each other at first. He didn’t like her because she thought she was cooler than him, and she didn’t like him because he thought he was too cool (LOL)...

Despite all of the sly talk, we still ended up fostering a great friendship with lots of flirting, fussing, and undeniable chemistry - that we consistently denied. Our friendship was so fun and special because we had a genuine comfort with each other. Underneath all of ‘the cool,’ we had a transcendent connection that always outweighed any and everything else. For years, we had an allegiance that neither of us (with our tough exteriors) knew how to articulate... or if we even wanted to.

Although it was a bit odd, our situationship was perfect for us. We spent time hanging around campus, watching movies, listening to all the new music, partying, talking about our past and dreaming about the future. We shared emotions, inside jokes, secrets, and major life moments (like voting for Barack together), but most importantly we shared the same unspoken code.

That code came to realization in June 2010 when we finally made our situationship an official relationship. Our love journey has gone through high highs and low lows, but we always find our way back to the middle. The love we share is special; it's invigorating, it's spine tingling, it's life changing, it's sacred, it's soul felt, and, it's blessed.
